Carrot hummus, No oil

My chickpeas ration is over and I am awaiting it in the next batch from Amazon. So I was in a dilemna as I didn't have any spread for my freshly baked bread. That's when I discovered that hummus can be made from carrot too. Did you know?

The components...

Carrot - 1 and 1/2

Garlic - 2 cloves

Sesame seeds, white - 1/4 tsp

Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp

Salt - 2 pinches

Pepper - a bit

Lemon - 1/2

Cold water - a few splashes

The process...

Peel carrot and slice into thin strips. Peel garlic and slice it small. In a baking tray lined with baking paper, place carrot, garlic. Sprinkle the sesame and cumin seeds.

Preheat oven to 200C. Roast for 20 minutes. Allow to cool.

Throw the roasted items, salt and pepper into a blender jar. Squeeze in juice of lemon and add water too. Blend to a fine paste. Spread on your homemade bread slice!

"Honeysuckle season"is a beautifully written story. The novel revolves around Libby, Sadie and Olivia. Libby is a wedding photographer. She has just been commissioned to take pictures of Ginger's marriage in the the sprawling estate of Woodmont. Being an adopted child, she has no idea of her birth parents. And, she soon finds out more.

Rewind to 1940s. Olivia Colton of Woodmont hires Sadie, a local girl as her driver. Soon they become close friends. When Sadie gets raped, which results in pregnancy, both Olivia and Sadie keep this knowledge away from Olivia's husband, a doctor who believes in sterilizing "troublesome" young women. Then Olivia's granddaughter gets pregnant in her college years.

The story moves back and forth between the 1940s and the 2020s. Flip through the book to understand the connection and how the story unfolds.
