Colocasia, commonly called chembu in malayalam is a root tuber, in the same category of tapioca.

Remove the brown skin. 
 
 
 
 

 
 
 
 
Cut into small pieces and wash well under running water. Place in a thick bottomed vessel, Cover the colocassia pieces with water and add a pinch of salt. 
 
 
 
 

 
 
 
 
Bring to boil. Strain water. Relish with pacha uppu mullaku (green chutney).
